Australian CrossFit Championship, CrossFit Fitout
Under the new 2019 qualification system for the CrossFit Games, a sanctioned event was to be held in Australia for the first time. AlphaFit was involved from the inception of the inaugural Australian CrossFit Championship – an exciting new pathway to The Games to be held annually on the Gold Coast. AlphaFit were given a very short turnaround time of 12 weeks to design, manufacture, supply and install the equipment required to host this event. Being able to showcase our Australian made products to the world is a dream of the company’s owners and staff and something we are very passionate about.
The Australian CrossFit Championship director, Darren Coughlan, programmed this Sanctional with traditional CrossFit style workouts in mind. Every piece of equipment was taken straight out of our catalogue and stayed true to the spirit of Darren’s vision. The arena floor consisted of 8 x 25 meter lanes of Australian made rubber flooring and a bespoke AlphaFit 8 cell frestanding rig coated in our turquoise and black to match the theme of the weekend. With close to half a million dollars worth of equipment ranging from Concept2 Rowers, SkiErgs and BikeErgs, Assault Air Runners and Air Bikes, AlphaFit Competition Bumpers, barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, plyometric boxes, sleds and more on the competition floor, the athletes were set for an epic test of fitness. In addition to the main fitout, we supplied an extra rig, lifting platforms and equipment in a designated warm up area out of site from the spectators. AlphaFit and its partners could not be more proud of how the weekend ran and how all the equipment performed.
"The Australian CrossFit Championship was proud to engage AlphaFit as the official equipment partner for our inaugural event on the Gold Coast. As one of the first sanctioned events in the world, and the first in Australia, it was essential to deliver an event with equipment that was world class in terms of look and functionality.
Our biggest priority was ensuring that all of the equipment, from the rig to the bars and free weights, could withstand the demands of competition. It was also very important to make sure that the athletes would be happy working with the equipment. AlphaFit has built a reputation within the local CrossFit community as a company who works with, and listens to, athletes to develop the best equipment in the fitness industry. These factors, combined with the fact that they are an Australian owned and operated manufacturer made us very excited to work with AlphaFit.
AlphaFit was able to meet all of the challenges that accompany an event of this size, including a short lead time (due to the new Sanctional format). In under three months, AlphaFit was able to deliver a customised rig, and the best quality kettlebells, dumbbells, plyo boxes, weightlifting equipment, sleds and more to help us put on an international calibre test of fitness.
From start to finish, AlphaFit was an integral part of the event from consultation during the design and manufacturing process, to delivery, installation and equipment management at the event. With over 120 athletes across four days of competition, we received nothing but positive feedback about the look, feel and performance of the equipment. Every piece of equipment looked sleek, professional and was durable enough to withstand some of the fittest athletes on Earth under competition pressure."
